Welcome

You don't have to be a "real" writer or artist to belong here

Maybe the voice in your head says "I'm not a real writer." Or "I don't have a specific project." Or "I'm too busy to play." Whatever your inner critic tries to throw at you, you belong in Silent Studio.

You don't have to be writing a manuscript to gain entry. You don't need a portfolio or a plan. Silent Studio is a time to meet with Creativity, the part of you that was pushed aside, and it's a space for everyone.

2. Settle in

Each session opens with a brief meditation to anchor your nervous system in the moment.

3. Create

The psychology

Why Silent Studio Works

Most of us have an inner critic that talks us out of creative projects and convinces us we aren't "real" writers or artists. As a clinical psychologist with more than 20 years in mental health, I can tell you that creative avoidance is rarely a discipline problem. More often, it's self-protection: an attempt to avoid the vulnerability of being seen. Rigid goals and pressure make it worse, not better.

What changes the pattern is consistency without pressure: showing up on a predictable schedule, with no expectation of output or quality, in the presence of others doing the same. Working silently alongside other creatives (sometimes called body doubling) provides gentle accountability without social demands. Over time, this rebuilds trust with the creative process itself.

When we show up for an hour, we are making a commitment with ourselves. All it takes is an hour to make something.

Silent Studio was built for you if:

  • You've dreamed of a creative practice but struggle to get started

  • You want rhythm and consistency in your week

  • You're juggling projects and need protected, focused time

  • You're neurodivergent or highly sensitive and want community without social pressure

  • You lost touch with your creativity and want a gentle way back

This isn't for you if:

  • You're looking for a critique group or peer feedback

  • You want writing instruction or coaching

  • You're hoping to chat, network, or find beta readers

About Your Guide

Dr. Christine Sparacino · Licensed Clinical Psychologist & Writer

I have been where you are, with a dream of writing a book and a schedule too full to start. So I started slow: one hour, three times a week, in a silent, no-pressure writing group. What started small grew into a consistent habit and a year of essays. That rhythm, one hour, three times a week, no pressure, just presence, is the same structure I now offer through Silent Studio.

Do I have to attend every session?

No. Attend whichever sessions fit your schedule; there's no expectation of full attendance. You can also show up at any time during the hour and stay as long as you want.

Is Silent Studio appropriate for people who find group interaction difficult?

Yes. There is no required interaction, conversation, or introduction. Participants work independently, alongside others, for the full session.

Do I have to keep my camera on?

No. Camera use is entirely optional, which supports the group's neurodivergent and highly sensitive-friendly design.

Can I join without a specific project in mind?

Yes. The time is yours to use however is most helpful.

Is this a critique or feedback group?

No. Silent Studio is a co-creating, body-doubling format. Participants work silently, in shared company, without collaborative feedback or coaching.

Is there a membership commitment?

No. Each month is a standalone purchase, with sign-ups opening before each new month. There is no subscription and no obligation to continue past any given month.

What platform is used, and is a particular device required?

Sessions are hosted on Zoom, and can be joined from a phone, tablet, or computer.
